Due to the high specific hygiene requirements (according to GMP) in the pharmaceuticals and food production, direct electric heating of liquid or gaseous media by means of tubular heaters is often not possible. This is not least due to the need for solutions with little or even no dead space. A problematic example would be the annular gap between flange plate and heater caused by the mounting of the heater at the flange’s side opposite of the medium. Germs and bacteria can gather in this annular gap during the heating of high-purity water (WFI) and sterile air.

For this application, Siekerkotte has developed a cartridge heater with high-quality ceramic elements where the heating cartridges are welded to the flange on the side of the medium without any gaps. As from certain lengths, we use spacers at the head to stabilise the cartridges. These are produced without gaps as well.

All parts touching the media have a maximum surface roughness of 0.8 µm. On demand, we produce these up to a surface roughness of 0.4 µm. If desired, we install mechanical temperature controllers/limiters and/or sensors or design contactor/thyristor controls individually adapted to the application to monitor the process.
